SMART. EASY. COOL.

HYDROCHILL®

Southwest Greens East Bay is glad to supply and install turf that saves Oakley families and businesses time and money allowing you to concentrate on the things that are most important. By implementing our modern HydroChill® cooling technology, weve taken on summertime heat in a clever and easy way. A basic addition to the turfs infill supplies an average cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works on its own when hydrated by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY

Perspiration is a natural means of thermoregulation called evaporative cooling. Evaporation of wetness from the skins surface has a cooling effect. Similarly, HydroChill® has shown to cool artificial turf surfaces by working on the same process. As the turf surface is heated up by solar radiation, water stored in the HydroChill® turf is released. Evaporating wetness eliminates heat, leaving a cooler, more enjoyable surface for the players.

  • HydroChill® uses moisture to create a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation will help keep your lawn cool for days, contingent on local weather conditions.
  • HydroChill® can be incorporated into a majority of Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
  • HydroChill® will not change the durability or warranty of Southwest Greens products.
  • HydroChill® is UV-resistant and needs to be re-treated every two years for maximum efficiency.

WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?

The temperature outside does not necessarily dictate surface temperature. Other elements determine an objects surface temperature, including cloud cover, wind, the suns angle, and other elements.

HydroChill® gives you maximum benefit when the sun is closest to the Earth, as demonstrated in the solar radiation calendar. Throughout the summer in Oakley, the sun sits high in the sky, causing surfaces to soak up more heat, resulting in higher temperatures. The Earths spin is also responsible for hourly variations in the suns light therefore making HydroChill® most effective during the hotter hours of a clear day when its most necessary.
